Who Else: Erika Mann

by Brittany Bauer

Erika was a writer, just like her dad, Thomas Mann. She authored many children's books and wrote for newspapers. She also worked for BBC London. She was the only woman to work in the U.S. Office of War Information during World War II. She and her brother Klaus moved to New York in 1938. Erika was also an actress and founded a children's theater. In 1952, she returned to Switzerland to be with her parents. Once there, Erika helped her father with his writing and even wrote a book about him.

Author

Former Editorial assistant Brittany Bauer graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in June 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English. Writing and reading are her two greatest passions, so you can usually find her with a pen in her hand or her nose in a book. She enjoys almost all fiction, memoirs, and anything about the Tudor dynasty or Renaissance art.
