Book Review: Keesha and Her Two Moms Go Swimming by Monica Bey-Clarke and Cheril N. Clarke

by Hannah Crawford

Keesha loves to go to the pool with her two moms. She loves playing with her friends, splashing, and jumping. But she spots one boy at the pool who looks sad. Can Keesha help cheer him up?

Keesha’s two moms have taught her that it is important to be kind to everyone. The sad boy, Kyle, is only sad because no one will play with him. Keesha knows how to fix that! She invites him over to play with her and her friends, and they have fun the rest of the day. Keesha’s moms are proud of her for being nice to Kyle. They even cook her favorite dinner for her and give her an extra scoop of ice cream.

Keesha and Her Two Moms Go Swimming shows how being nice to others can help you make new friends. It shows lots of different types of families, too. Keesha has two moms. Kyle has a mom and a dad. Keesha’s other friend, Tyler, has two dads. The pictures are bright and colorful, and if you are just learning how to read, this is a great book to help you practice.
