Try this fun and delicious activity with your family or friends! Be sure to get help from a grown-up to use the stove.
Equipment:
A 2-quart saucepan
Measuring cups and spoons
A wooden spoon or spatula for stirring
A teaspoon for dropping the cookies
Waxed paper
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
1. Put the sugar, cocoa, butter, and milk in a saucepan.
2. Set one stove burner to medium, and put the saucepan on it. Stir while the butter melts and the sugar dissolves. Keep stirring until everything is blended. Bring to a boil, and cook for one minute.
3. Turn the burner off, and get an adult’s help to take the saucepan off the heat.
4. Add the peanut butter, vanilla, and oatmeal, and mix well.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a sheet of waxed paper. Wait until cool and hardened. Enjoy!
