Publisher's Letter: Resolutions

by Laura Matanah

“My resolution is to bake a pecan pie,” said a friend one New Year’s Eve. She inspired me to think about the opportunities for joy, relaxation, and good food at the beginning of each new year. However, being myself, I still make the earnest, “do better” resolutions too.

Here’s my list:

  1. Appreciate my partner, Sarah—both her parenting and her overall fabulous humanness—on a regular basis
  2. Plan an international experience for our family
  3. Find a new fun or relaxing activity that keeps me from getting too wrapped up in my children’s teen angst
  4. Do a better job of sharing Rainbow Rumpus’ funding gap
  5. Do a better job of giving our board members, volunteers, donors, and readers opportunities to help close it
  6. Ensure that every child and teen in the U.S. with LGBT parents gets to hear stories about families like theirs

I hope that you’ll join me in making number six come true, and consider sharing your personal resolutions on the Rainbow Rumpus Facebook page.
